The last month of the year is here and that means it’s time to start thinking about your New Year’s resolutions and goals. We know you have “being healthier” on your list and one of the easiest places to start is your oral health routine. A healthy mouth promotes a healthy body so let’s start with how you take care of your smile!
It’s easy to follow the daily three steps brush, floss, and rinse. Let’s look into some new oral habits you can try out.
- Tongue Scraping. Did you know your tongue harbors bacteria that can cause bad breath and gum infections? Tongue scraping is an excellent way to remove plaque and bacteria from the surface of your tongue. Not only does tongue scraping improve your overall oral health but also helps freshen breath and improve your taste. Add tongue scraping to the end of your oral routine and rinse with water when finished! - Water Flossing. If you have braces, dentures, bridgework, and crowns you may want to invest in a water flosser. Water flossers use a pressurized stream of pulsating water to clean away food particles, bacteria, and plaque between teeth and under the gum line. This method allows you to gently remove plaque and particles in hard to reach areas. We recommend you use string floss and then water floss afterwards to remove excess plaque.
- Teeth whitening. At home or in-office, we have you covered! Start the new year feeling confident in your white smile. Teeth whitening can often cause tooth sensitivity, this is why we recommend working with a professional in order to get the perfect, yet painless white! For at home treatment we offer a Whitening for Life program with fitted trays as well as a Opalescence Whitening Treatment with preformed trays. If you are looking for a faster and more effective method we have a few in office recommendations. Kor, Uphoria, and Zoom all provide beautiful results.
