How’s your stress level right now?
If you think you’re doing ok, ask your mouth.
Dentists are seeing an increase in an unexpected symptom of the coronavirus; mouth pain due to clenching and grinding teeth due to stress.
Recently, NBC24 asked Brittney Gates, RDH, BS at Dr. Frankel about how our stress can be transferred into other areas of the body including your mouth.
“If you’re not clenching during the day, you might be in your sleep. Headaches and sore jaws when you wake up are major signs of grinding which can affect chewing and speaking or even worse.
“The pressure and the forces can cause your teeth to crack, especially if you have older fillings, stuff in there that’s breaking down anyways. It can cause it to crack and lose your tooth potentially.”
