But how exactly does your smile affect your heart? Clinical studies have shown that gum disease (characterized by swollen, bleeding gums, and bone loss) is linked to heart disease. Brush your teeth at least twice a day and thoroughly floss in-between once a day.

Add crunchy fruits and vegetables to your favorite snack habits to help clean your teeth. Bring on new omega-3 rich foods like walnuts, chia seeds, flax seeds and salmon to reduce inflammation in your gums and arteries.
