If you’ve lost your teeth due to an accident/injury or as a result of gum disease you’ll be happy to know that we have several options by which we can restore your mouth, and your smile, to their optimal condition.
A Permanent Bridge
One solution is called a permanent bridge, a device which fills in the gaps in your mouth with carefully crafted prosthetic teeth while simultaneously preventing the shifting and repositioning of whatever teeth you might still have. This can have a number of positive results, correcting your bite, improving your chewing and your speech and giving your face a more solid, youthful structure. Indeed, the installation of a permanent bridge can dramatically improve your outlook and your life on general, as well as your health.
A Fixed Bridge
Another style of bridge which might be better suited to your particular situation is called a fixed bridge. While all bridges contain prosthetic teeth which work with your natural teeth to establish normalcy, a fixed bridge is primarily different in its construction. It contains three parts: the prosthetic items and two abutment crowns which are attached permanently to nearby crowned (aka abutment) teeth.
Which Option is Right for You?
The type of bridge which should be chosen for your specific case is dependent on the strength and condition of these crowned teeth. If they are not up to supporting the bridge on their own then we surgically can install a dental implant, essentially a tiny metal post, to secure the item. If you maintain them properly, fixed bridges can last for at least 8-10 years. However, if you have many teeth which require replacement we may instead suggest partial dentures or an implant-supported prosthesis.
No matter what tool is decided upon, we guarantee that when our work is complete you’ll have a smile you can be proud to show off. That’s the guarantee we make to every patient we treat.
